Dr. Chunk was formed in 2001 with Jeff Simpson, Eric Beard, Tighe
Werntz, and Mikey Niel. A three song demo CD with Face The Fear,
Traitor's View, and Feel My Pain started it all.
The
Quartet recorded the self titled Dr. Chunk debut album in 2002.

Lineup with Big Bass Brian at Bernie Grundman Mastering
Mikey
Niel worked his ass off with Dr. Chunk for 10 great shows, despite
his commitment to his true love, the San Diego Power Metal band
Cage. We appreciate Mikey
Niel helping us with our dream. In August of 2002, Ben Victa took
on the role as drummer.
Dr.
Chunk continued playing great shows in LA at The Troubadour, The
Cat Club, and 14 below, in San Francisco at The Pound, and in San
Diego at Cane's, Club Expose' strip club, Casa Picante, Brick by
Brick, and many others.
In early 2003, Eric left Dr. Chunk to pursue Angerhead.
Jeff slid back over to the guitar slot and Chap joined on Bass.
Like a well tuned machine, Dr. Chunk continued to dominate, booking
shows at the San Diego County Fair, The Longshot Saloon, and the
Epicentre.
2003 lineup - Jeff, Ben, Tighe, Chap
2003
concluded with Tighe's stunning announcement that he would have
to leave the band to relocate to Northern California. Chap also
decided to leave for personal reasons.
2004
began on a down note, with Dr. Chunk 2 members shy of a full deck.
Through a lengthy and thorough search, Dr. Chunk was able to welcome
Brian Mackey and Scott Milnes to the table. 2004 was looking all
right after all.
Dr. Chunk in MMIV Backstage at the SD County Fair
In
a few short months, the band achieved stunning momentum, booking
shows at the SD County Fair for the second year, Cane's, The Belly
Up, intimate venues such as The Leucadian and The Surf and Saddle,
and The Hard Rock Cafe.
The
new lineup released a three song demo CD with "Cut You Off,"
"True Identity," and "Chaotic Chemistry" and
recorded a video for "Cut You Off," also within a few
months. Response to the new lineup and new sound has been incredible.
Dr.
Chunk is working hard to bring their music to new listeners, and
plans to start recording their second full length CD by the end
of 2004.
